About Us > Dr Andrew Bass
Andrew is the founder and principal of BassClusker Consulting, and helps leaders to develop, communicate and implement ambitious business strategies.
He has worked with clients in both services and manufacturing, including KPMG, DLA Piper, Advantage West Midlands, the Police and - through his work with the Aston Business School Centre for Executive Development - with L'Oreal, International Automotive Components Group and Vocalink. As well as delivering projects throughout the UK, Andrew has experience in France, Germany, Belgium and Russia.
Prior to co-founding BassClusker Consulting, Andrew lectured at Aston Business School, where he was director of the Psychology & Management programme. He continues to contribute to the school’s Masters programme, teaching a course on management consulting, and was recently described in participant feedback as "the best lecturer I have ever had."
Andrew is an entertaining and engaging speaker who has the ability to cut through jargon and buzzwords, translating solid theory into practical action steps which make a real difference to clients.
Andrew has a PhD in Software Engineering from Aston University, and studied Strategy and Finance at Ashridge. In addition to scholarly articles, he has published in Career Development International, Legal Week, Managing Partner magazine and Business & Finance Midlands. He has a book about Strategic Leadership in preparation for Lean Marketing Press.
An active member of the Birmingham (UK) business community, Andrew is a director of the business lobbying and networking group Birmingham Forward, acts as advisor to the Birmingham Future Mentoring Scheme, and works on a voluntary basis with Fairbridge, a charity offering support, education and encouragement to inner-city young people.
Outside of work, Andrew has dabbled in the dangerous world of stand-up comedy (with decidedly mixed results!), and plays lead guitar in a tribute band dedicated to the music of Canadian progressive rock band Rush.
